Acetal
Acetal offers an ideal combination of strength, toughness and hardness with excellent slide.
Our black Acetal extruded co-polymer sheets are semi crystalline thermoplastic and characterised by a low co-efficient of friction, good wear properties and offer resistance to a wide range of chemicals, including many solvents.
They also provide high mechanical strength, stiffness and heat resistance. As water absorption is very low, dimensional accuracy and stability is improved over nylons.
Typical uses
- High mechanical strength, stiffness and hardness
- Excellent resilience
- Good creep resistance
- High impact strength, even at low temperatures
- Very good dimensional stability (low water absorption)
- Good sliding properties and wear resistance
- Excellent machinability
- Good electrical insulating and dielectric properties
- Physiologically inert (most grades are suitable for food contact)
Example applications
Gear wheels with small modulus, cams, heavily loaded bearings and rollers, bearings and gears with small clearances, valve seats, snap-fit assemblies, dimensionally stable precision parts, electrically insulating components.
We also offer Acetal Natural Extruded sheets.

Protective Films
All plastic sheet products will have a Clear, Blue or White protective film on both sides or a combination of all three. This is to protect during transit and needs removing before usage. Sometimes it can be difficult to peel off but use a thumbnail gently on any corner to lift and peel. Alternatively gently wet any corner with a cloth to separate film and peel.
Adhesives & Sealants
When using any adhesives or sealants with your plastic sheet product great care must be taken in ensuring its compatibility. Some products can react adversely and either not bond/seal properly or would cause the acrylic to cloud or become white at the bond line. Refer to our web pages for advice if unsure. Check your sealant/adhesives ‘use by date’ to ensure its still current for best performance in your project.
