Polycarbonate Shed Windows

Choose Superstrong Polycarbonate Shed or Summerhouse Windows here at The Plastic People and you won't be replacing them anytime soon! The polycarbonate window panes that we provide are 250 times stronger than glass but only half the weight meaning they are light to handle and virtually unbreakable.

We deliver polycarbonate shed windows cut to the size you need.
When selecting your shed or summerhouse window panes we recommend a minimum gauge of 3mm for adequate rigidity.  This is becasue some customers have told us 2mm thick polycarbonate can be 'too bendy' particularly on larger panel sizes.

Rest assured that as well as our polycarbonate sheets for sheds being 250 x stronger than glass, they are also half its weight making it a superb and easy to use choice to replace broken or existing glass panels. Polycarbonate is also much stronger than acrylic alternatives. Because polycarbonate is so strong you can be confident you won't need to replace your polycarbonate panels anytime soon.

How To Order Your Polycarbonate Window Panes For Your Shed or Summerhouse

  • Simply enter the measurements of your existing windows panes into our Quote Calculator above and we'll safely deliver polycarbonate window panes, ready to go in your shed or summerhouse.

  • If you would like any special shapes cut, choose our Cut To Shape tab on the Quote Calculator above. Alternatively, email us a drawing for a quote.

  • You can upload a drawing to show us what you require (for example, where you would like holes drilled) and this will come to us at the same time you place your order.

That's it. If we have any questions, we'll be in touch.

How do I fit Replacement Shed or Summerhouse Windows ?

If your replacement panels are the same size and thickness as your original panels you should be able to fit them in exactly the same way. On wooden frames you can even drill and screw polycarbonate on, it won’t break. If you prefer, we can drill any holes for you, just let us know how many you'd like (we generally recommend a hole every 300mm) by completing the optional extras section when you place your order.

Can polycarbonate be used for glazing ?
Polycarbonate panes offer excellent clarity with the highest impact strength of any transparent glazing product.  Compared to acrylic panes of the same thickness and size it is around 30 times stronger; compared to equivalent glass panes it is over 250 times stronger.  This makes polycarbonate an excellent choice for glazing where security is key.

Does polycarbonate have a fire rating ?
Polycarbonate is Class 1 fire rated. This means it will extinguish itself.

How durable is polycarbonate ?

As polycarbonate is so strong, you can be confident you'll not need to replace the panels anytime soon. The material is also ideal for making cold frames and cloches, as well as replacing glass to make vulnerable doors and windows more secure.

How should polycarbonate be cleaned ?
We recommend using only warm soapy water with a soft, non-abrasive cotton cloth. Alteranatively you can use the polycarbonate cleaning products which are available here.  Do not use any chemicals as this will damage the polycarbonate

How thick is polycarbonate ?
We offer polycarbonate on our site in thicknesses ranging from 2mm to 12mm.
Please call us on 0113 249 2222 if you require thicker gauges.
What effect does UV have on polycarbonate ?
Solar radiation has a particularly harmful effect upon materials that are not protected.  Our multiwall polycarbonate comes with a UV protected surface, ensuring long-term optical quality even under UV exposure.
