Location - If you order standard holes we will drill 5mm holes centred 25mm from the edges in each corner or evenly spaced (depending on how many you order) unless you tell us otherwise.  For panels 150mm wide or less the holes will be centred 15mm from the edge of the material unless you tell us otherwise. Bespoke, Made To Measure Acrylic Photo And Picture Frames

Display your photographs and artwork in a wall mounted acrylic photo frame made to the size you require.  We cut upto 4mm thick crystal clear acrylic to the sizes you need and you can choose your own fittings from our menu above to create the display you want.  Acrylic frames make changing your displays easy and quick to do.

Your made-to-measure acrylic frame will consist of 2 pieces of acrylic to create a lovely effect as there is nothing to distract from your artwork and images contained within appear to float on any wall. Download our new PDF's for Acrylic Picture Frame Measuring Guide and also Acrylic Picture Frame Installation Guide for help and inspiration before ordering.

Fixing Your Acrylic Frame Flat To The Wall

Acrylic frames can hang flat to the wall or stand slightly off the wall.  Achieve this look by selecting our standard holes with screws which can be covered by screw caps for a smarter finish. They are all available to select in the above Quote Calculator when you select the number of holes you require for hanging.

Fixing Your Acrylic Frame To Stand-Off The Wall

Acrylic frames can be fixed to stand slightly off the wall.  To achieve this look  choose either our polished chrome or satin wall fixings. They are all available to select in the above Quote Calculator when you select the number of holes you require for hanging. We offer stands offs of either 19mm or 25mm.  Stand-off is the size of the gap you will have between the wall and your frame.

How To Order Your Bespoke Acrylic Picture Frame

  • Simply enter the measurements of the frame you'd like into our Cut To Size Quote Calculator above
  • Choose your fittings - the holes and fixings you'd like
Special Shapes ?
  • If you would like your frame in a special shape, choose our Cut To Shape tab on the Quote Calculator above. Alternatively, email us your requirements for a quote.
  • You can upload a drawing to show us what you require and this will drawing will come to us at the same time you place your order.

How To Plan Your Border

If you would prefer to order acrylic frames which are larger than your print size and allow a clear border around the print then please enter the size of your image plus the size of your desired border.   For the fixings to be in the centre of the free space around your artwork add a 50mm border all the way round i.e. 100mm to each dimension. The minimum border to prevent the fixings overlapping the artwork would be 35mm i.e 70mm to each dimension.

If you'd like to speak with our friendly team they can reached on 0113 249 2222.

Samples
If you would like to see the clear as glass plastic used in our frames, please order a sample above.

Helpful Notes:

  • We drill holes 25mm from the edge unless you specify otherwise.  There is room in our checkout to add notes about a preference if you have one.
  • We suggest a fixing every 500mm. Our fixings will hold the 2 acrylic panels together and effectively 'trap' your artwork in place.
  • If you choose wall mounts, 5mm screws are required for mounting which are not supplied.
  • We also provide Acrylic Photo Frames as well as Acrylic Photo Blocks.

How does Vuplex work ?
Vuplex works using five functions in one quick action.
1. It cleans using safe ingredients that wont damage plastic surfaces.
2. It applies a fine coating of wax that gives the surface protection from micro scratching.
3. The wax acts as a barrier against water (hydrophobic) and other atmospheric conditions that cause aging and a break down of clarity.
4. Static that is built up in the plastic surface and attracts other abrasive material such as dust, is controlled by VuPlexs anti-static properties.
5. VuPlex polishes to a high shine and restores the lustre and new look to the surface. The finish is not sticky or greasy and can be achieved in mere seconds.
How should I clean acrylic ?
The team here at The Plastic People are often asked about how to care for acrylic.  Acrylic should not be cleaned with chemical cleaners as this will very likely lead to damage.  Cleaning acrylic should be with warm soapy water and a soft cotton cloth.  We are impressed with a cleaning product called Vuplex which polishes acrylic to a high shine in minutes, keeping acrylic looking like brand new.   It also protects new plastic from scratches and grime and restores plastic which has fine scratches and in ground grime.
What is the difference between Perspex and acrylic ?
What is known as Perspex is really a brand of acrylic.

Acrylic is common thermoplastic.  It's chemical name is polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA).  PMMA was invented in 1933.  Acrylic became available for commercial use under various protected trademarks such as Perspex®.  Other trademarks include are Plexiglas®,  Acrylite®,  Altuglas® and Lucite Plazcryl®,.
