Polycarbonate Greenhouse Glazing

Choose Superstrong Polycarbonate Greenhouse Panels for a virtually indestructible greenhouse. Lighter, yet 250 x stronger, than glass and providing UV protection we have lots of standard sized Polycarbonate Greenhouse Panels to choose from above. Or, if you need different sizes or a particular shape use our cut to size service or special shapes service for panels cut to your exact measurements.

Our polycarbonate comes with built in UV filters. Polycarbonate is much stronger than other clear plastic glazing alternatives. Because polycarbonate is so strong you can be confident you won't need to replace your polycarbonate panels anytime soon.

Polycarbonate is also ideal for making cold frames & cloches.

We also supply:

How do I fit replacement greenhouse panels?

250 x stronger than glass and half its weight makes fitting polycarbonate greenhouse glazing an easy task - it is so safe and light to handle. If dropped, no worrying about it breaking into shards like glass!

If your replacement panels are the same size and thickness as your original panels you should be able to fit them in exactly the same way. On wooden frames you can even drill and screw polycarbonate on, it won’t break.

If you prefer, we can drill any holes for you, just let us know how many you'd like (we generally recommend a hole every 300mm) by completing the optional extras section when you place your order.

Frequently Asked Questions about Polycarbonate Greenhouse Glazing

Are there any independent reviews of polycarbonate greenhouse glazing?

Yes, you might find this article interesting – read here to see what The Telegraph gardening section say too.

How do I install the polycarbonate greenhouse panels myself?

First things first – buy polycarbonate greenhouse glazing panels which are the same size as your original panels, then you can fit them in exactly the same way and use the same clips that you already have. On wooden frames, you can choose to drill the polycarbonate on or use putty. If you would like us to pre-drill holes in your polycarbonate for you, we can do that so your holes are ready when the panels are delivered.

How do I order polycarbonate panels to fit my greenhouse?

Write down the sizes of your existing panes – these sizes are what you will need to order your new polycarbonate replacements. Simply enter these measurements into our Cut To Size calculator above. Using this method, the panels will be ready to fit straight onto your greenhouse.

How durable is polycarbonate?

As polycarbonate is so strong, you can be confident you’ll not need to replace the panels anytime soon. The material is also ideal for making cold frames and cloches, as well as replacing glass to make vulnerable doors and windows more secure.

What effect does UV have on polycarbonate?

Solar radiation has a particularly harmful effect upon materials that are not protected. Our multiwall polycarbonate comes with a UV protected surface, ensuring long-term optical quality even under UV exposure.

Why is polycarbonate good for greenhouse glazing?

Our polycarbonate is 200x stronger than glass yet half its weight. This makes the material a superb, easy-to-use choice for replacing broken or existing greenhouse glass panels. We think it beats glass panels hands down – but don’t take our word for it.

Ordering

We sell two types of greenhouse replacement glazing, acrylic and polycarbonate, both equally adequate and both with their advantages. If you’re wanting to save money and live perhaps in an area that isn’t exposed to the elements, acrylic would be the way to go. If you live in an exposed area prone to adverse weather conditions including storms and the occasional tornado, polycarbonate would be the choice albeit more expensive but much tougher.

Bespoke Sizing

We sell both in standard sizes and if needed we can produce something bespoke that will fit and replace any existing panes. Remember too that acrylic and polycarbonate are child and pet friendly and reduces the chance of incident to near zero after a storm as any unlikely broken panes will not have any sharp edges and can be easily collected and disposed of.

Protective Films

All plastic sheet products will have a Clear, Blue or White protective film on both sides or a combination of all three. This is to protect during transit and needs removing before usage. Sometimes it can be difficult to peel off but use a thumbnail gently on any corner to lift and peel. Alternatively, gently wet any corner with a cloth to separate film and peel.

UV Protection

The high performance UV absorption layer in Polycarbonate means longer life and prevention of yellowing and loss of strength. Polycarbonate offers excellent protection against vandalism and accidental damage with an impact resistance up to 200 times greater than glass. Acrylic too has excellent UV stability and is durable even in the worst UK weather conditions.

Delivery Damages

You have 14 days from receiving your order to report any visible damages. Please email a photograph of the damage along with your order number and contact details as soon as possible to service@theplasticpeople.co.uk. We'll arrange a refund or replacement for you as soon as we receive this. Please keep your packaging and do not use the damaged goods, so they can be collected and returned to us if necessary.
