Birch Vs Spruce Plywood

Both birch and spruce are popular materials for making plywood. The main difference between these two options is that spruce is a softwood and birch is a hardwood. Softwoods tend to be cheaper, lighter, and slightly less durable than hardwood. This is true with spruce plywood, which is lighter and more economical than birch plywood.

Birch plywood may also have fewer knots than spruce. If you need help deciding which plywood would be best for your project, please get in touch with a member of our team, who will be able to answer your questions and provide some expert advice.

Storage

Whilst every effort is made to ensure your wood products arrive in pristine condition care must be taken on delivery to ensure your products are not damaged and to keep them wrapped until needed in a cool, dry place. We sell MDF, Plywood and OSB which have varying degree of manufacturing treatments including flame and moisture resistance. Whilst these products are resilient, they mustn’t be stored or used outside as the elements would delaminate and perish your item especially if they get wet or affected by frost. Some treated wood products are water resistant, not waterproof.

Adhesives & Sealants

When using any adhesives or sealants with your wood sheet product great care must be taken in ensuring its compatibility. Some products can react adversely and either not bond/seal properly or create a poor finish which isn’t good if its going to be visible. Refer to our web pages for advice if unsure. Check your sealant/adhesives ‘use by date’ to ensure its still current for best performance in your project.

Delivery Damages

You have 14 days from receiving your order to report any visible damages. Please email a photograph of the damage along with your order number and contact details as soon as possible to service@theplasticpeople.co.uk. We'll arrange a refund or replacement for you as soon as we receive this. Please keep your packaging and do not use the damaged goods, so they can be collected and returned to us if necessary.
