Metallic Acrylic
Our gold and silver Metallic Acrylic is genuine Perspex®. We only sell Metallic Acrylic from the Perspex® brand as Perspex® has the enviable reputation as being the very best acrylic available. We think that is massively important when it comes down to colour quality and finish.
Metallic Acrylic Perspex® is popular for point of purchase, signage and display as well as domestic projects. This gold and silver metallic acrylic has a black core and is used for engraving (this is also why our images show black stripe across them).
Sparkle Acrylic
Our black sparkle Acrylic is enhanced by the addition of thousands of glitter particles providing a sparkle/shimmer effect. We only sell Sparkle Acrylic from the Perspex® brand as Perspex® has the enviable reputation as being the very best acrylic available. Its highly polished surface helps to reflect the sparkle and increase its intensity.
Please be aware that both Metallic Acrylic and Sparkle Acrylic are one sided products so please take care when fitting that you have the material displayed with the correct face to the front.
Frequently Asked Questions about Acrylic
Can acrylic be used behind a hob?
Acrylic can be used for kitchen splashbacks but the following clearances should be kept between the outer edge of your hob and the acrylic: at least 60mm for ceramic hobs and at least 200mm for gas hobs. Acrylic is not suitable for use behind an Aga or similar range cooker. See our splashback pages for further details.
Can acrylic be used in bathrooms?
Acrylic can be used for bathroom splashbacks, shower splashbacks and bath panels, especially routed panels that are machined to specification. Acrylic can be delivered at a maximum size of 3m × 2m meaning it is possible to cover a large area without the need for any seams (this means no more grouting). Because acrylic is so light, lifting acrylic and fixing it to walls is a fairly straightforward DIY task. See our acrylic splashbacks for further details.
How can I clean acrylic?
We suggest simply using warm soapy water and a soft cotton cloth. Any chemical cleaner should be avoided as it is likely to damage the acrylic. If you would like to use a cleaning product we suggest our specialist acrylic cleaner and polish, Vuplex.
How can I cut acrylic sheets?
You can cut acrylic at home yourself - learn how to do it here.
How can I cut Perspex?

Is acrylic suitable for outdoor use?
Yes, acrylic can be used outside.

Protective Films
All plastic sheet products will have a Clear, Blue or White protective film on both sides or a combination of all three. This is to protect during transit and needs removing before usage. Sometimes it can be difficult to peel off but use a thumbnail gently on any corner to lift and peel. Alternatively gently wet any corner with a cloth to separate film and peel.
Adhesives & Sealants
When using any adhesives or sealants with your plastic sheet product great care must be taken in ensuring its compatibility. Some products can react adversely and either not bond/seal properly or would cause the acrylic to cloud or become white at the bond line. Refer to our web pages for advice if unsure. Check your sealant/adhesives ‘use by date’ to ensure its still current for best performance in your project.
