Natural Nylon 6 Sheets - Cut To Size
A primary engineering material, suitable for virtually any plain bearing application this unmodified grade, Nylon 6 sheets have similar characteristics to Nylon 66 sheets but with significantly lower stress levels combined with high strength, good creep and wear resistance, heat ageing properties and machinability. The Black sheets offer great dimensional accuracy when machining, improved sliding properties, wear resistance, lower surface friction and enhanced UV resistance over natural. Natural & Black Nylon 6 has a plus tolerance of +0.5mm - + 2.5mm.

Nylon FAQs
Does nylon have good wear resistance?
Nylon 6 and 66 are classed as high wear resistant plastics, as are:
- Acetal
- Delrin
- Oilon
- HDPE
- Polypropylene
- Polyurethane
- PEEK
- RG1000
- Whale Tufnol
- UHMWPE
- PET
Does nylon offer high chemical resistance?
Nylon is not considered good for chemical resistance. The following plastics are:
- Acetal
- HDPE
- Polypropylene
- PTFE
- PEEK
- PVC
- RG1000
- UHMWPE
Is nylon considered easy to machine?
Nylon is generally considered easy to machine, as are:
- Acetal
- Delrin
- Oilon
- HDPE
- PEEK
- PVC
- RG1000
- Tufnol
- UHMWPE
Is nylon easy or difficult to bond?
Nylon is considered easy to bond. The following plastics are also considered easy to bond:
- Nylon 6
- Nylon 6.6
- PEEK
- PVC
- Polyurethane
- Tufnol
- Acrylic
- Polycarbonate
- ABS
These plastics are considered difficult to bond:
- Acetal
- Delrin
- Oilon
- HDPE
- Polypropylene
- PTFE
- RG1000
- UHMWPE
- PVDF
What are the differences between Nylon 6 and Nylon 6.6?
Nylon 6.6 has a 6% higher operating temperature, is 13% harder, 10% more rigid and has a tensile strength that is 8% greater. Nylon 6, on the other hand, has a greater size range but the main difference is it can be around 30% cheaper.
What is the operating temperature of nylon 66?
Nylon 66 has an operating temperature of 100 °C long term and 170 °C short term.
Long term typically means between 5,000 and 20,000 hours operating at this temperature without losing more than 50% of its performance. Short term typically means up to 2 hours at any one time.

Protective Films
All plastic sheet products will have a Clear, Blue or White protective film on both sides or a combination of all three. This is to protect during transit and needs removing before usage. Sometimes it can be difficult to peel off but use a thumbnail gently on any corner to lift and peel. Alternatively gently wet any corner with a cloth to separate film and peel.
Adhesives & Sealants
When using any adhesives or sealants with your plastic sheet product great care must be taken in ensuring its compatibility. Some products can react adversely and either not bond/seal properly or would cause the acrylic to cloud or become white at the bond line. Refer to our web pages for advice if unsure. Check your sealant/adhesives ‘use by date’ to ensure its still current for best performance in your project.
