Black, White and Opal Cast Acrylic Sheets
Black and White acrylic sheets are suitable for a wide range of uses such as splashbacks, wall protection, signs, and point of sale displays.
Opal acrylic sheet is mainly used for light boxes as it allows a specific proportion of the available light to pass through the material.
Our standard 050 Opal acrylic sheet allows 37% of the available light through. If you require light box acrylic of a different opacity please contact our friendly customer service team with your requirements and they will be happy to help.
Looking after your Acrylic Sheets
We're often asked how to best clean acrylic sheets. Please use warm water with a small amount of mild detergent and a soft cotton cloth to clean acrylic.
Alternatively we're very impressed with results from acrylic cleaner VuPlex which polishes acrylic to a high shine in minutes, keeping acrylic looking like brand new.
We can also cut our acrylic sheets to the exact size you need. Access our cut to size service here.
Acrylic Splashback & Plastic FAQs
Can acrylic be used behind a hob?
Yes — acrylic can be used for kitchen splashbacks, but the following minimum distances should be maintained between the outer edge of your hob and the acrylic:
- At least 60mm for ceramic hobs
- At least 200mm for gas hobs
Can acrylic be used in bathrooms?
Yes — acrylic is suitable for bathroom splashbacks, shower splashbacks, and bath panels, especially routed panels machined to specification.
Acrylic can be delivered at a maximum size of 3m × 2m, allowing coverage of large areas without seams (no grouting required). Its light weight makes lifting and fixing to walls a straightforward DIY task. See our acrylic splashbacks pages for more details.
How should I clean acrylic?
Acrylic should be cleaned with warm soapy water and a soft cotton cloth. Avoid chemical cleaners, as they can damage the surface. For polish and extra protection, we recommend our specialist acrylic cleaner Vuplex, which restores shine and protects against scratches and grime.
How can I see the true colour of acrylic?
Colours may vary on screen depending on resolution, operating system, browser, and personal settings. Ordering a sample is the best way to see the true colour before purchasing.
Is acrylic heat resistant?
Yes — acrylic is heat resistant up to 70 °C.
Is acrylic suitable for outdoor use?
Yes — acrylic can be used outdoors.

Protective Films
All plastic sheet products will have a Clear, Blue or White protective film on both sides or a combination of all three. This is to protect during transit and needs removing before usage. Sometimes it can be difficult to peel off but use a thumbnail gently on any corner to lift and peel. Alternatively gently wet any corner with a cloth to separate film and peel.
Adhesives & Sealants
When using any adhesives or sealants with your plastic sheet product great care must be taken in ensuring its compatibility. Some products can react adversely and either not bond/seal properly or would cause the acrylic to cloud or become white at the bond line. Refer to our web pages for advice if unsure. Check your sealant/adhesives ‘use by date’ to ensure its still current for best performance in your project.
