Key features of the black Polypropylene sheet

When it comes to black Polypropylene sheets cut to size or shape, there are a number of key features that make it ideal for a variety of different purposes.

  • High flex - black Polypropylene will act with elasticity over a certain range of deflection.
  • High impact resistance - black Polypropylene sheets retain their shape after a lot of torsion and bending.
  • Lightweight - black Polypropylene has a low density relative to other common plastics which makes it desirable to manufacturers and distributors.
  • Insulation - black Polypropylene has a very high resistance to electricity, which makes it useful for electrical components.
  • Low cost - black Polypropylene is an affordable alternative to other materials, and represents excellent value for money.
  • Extremely tough - black Polypropylene is very durable and an almost unbreakable plastic.
  • Good chemical resistance - black Polypropylene sheets are resistant to water and chemicals - as well as dilute and concentrated acids, alcohols, bases and mineral oils.
  • Low moisture absorption - this means that it’s more than capable of withstanding almost any environment it’s used in.

Another key thing to note is that our black Polypropylene is FDA approved. This means that this type of plastic is fully approved for food contact - whether that’s production or storage.

For example, this makes black Polypropylene sheets ideal for wall cladding in hygiene rooms. This might sound like a very simple everyday purpose - but since not all plastics are FDA compliant, black Polypropylene is a good, reliable choice in this instance.

And, when you can order a bespoke black Polypropylene sheet to suit your exact requirements - the possibilities are endless!

How to order your cut to size or shape black Polypropylene

Ordering black Polypropylene sheets is quick and easy with The Plastic People.

First and foremost, when it comes to bespoke orders of this nature - you’ll need to have a rough idea of the size of plastic you need before getting a quote, or placing an order.

For cut to size orders, sheets are available in three different thicknesses (measured in millimetres, centimetres and inches).

You can also select the width (maximum 2440mm) and length (maximum 1220mm) of your sheet as well as any optional extras.

This might include and holes you need to be drilled into the plastic, for instance.

The same applies to cut to shape black Polypropylene orders - only this will depend on the shape you choose.

If you have a different shape in mind to the six default shapes listed - you can upload a drawing to show us your specific requirements.

In this case, rather than completing the quote calculator above - you might find it more productive to get a quote via email. This will help us get a better feel for what you need - so we can price up the job accordingly.

In terms of delivery - standard delivery usually takes 3 days to arrive (although orders with optional extras included may take up to 5 working days to arrive).

Otherwise, you can order through our next day delivery service or named day delivery service, if you have a day in mind that’s more convenient.

For more guidance on this - see our delivery and returns page.

If you have any other special comments, you can let us know in the Comments box as you checkout.

That's it. If we have any questions, we'll be in touch.

Protective Films

All plastic sheet products will have a Clear, Blue or White protective film on both sides or a combination of all three. This is to protect during transit and needs removing before usage. Sometimes it can be difficult to peel off but use a thumbnail gently on any corner to lift and peel. Alternatively gently wet any corner with a cloth to separate film and peel.

Adhesives & Sealants

When using any adhesives or sealants with your plastic sheet product great care must be taken in ensuring its compatibility. Some products can react adversely and either not bond/seal properly or would cause the acrylic to cloud or become white at the bond line. Refer to our web pages for advice if unsure. Check your sealant/adhesives ‘use by date’ to ensure its still current for best performance in your project.
