Acrylic Greenhouse Glazing - Standard Sizes
Choose clear Perspex greenhouse panels here at The Plastic People to replace your damaged or broken greenhouse glass panels.
The panels that we have available are lighter than glass and much stronger. They come in both cut-to-size and standard sizes, to suit all requirements.
Our Acrylic Perspex Replacement Greenhouse Glass is:
- Safer than glass - if it does break, it will not shatter.
- Lighter than glass - 50% lighter than glass.
- Stronger than glass - 10X the impact resistance of glass.
- Cheaper than glass.
- Has great UV and weather resistance.
Rest assured that as well as our Perspex sheets for greenhouses being stronger than glass, they are also lighter and much cheaper and so are a superb choice to replace broken or existing glass panels.
When selecting your replacement acrylic greenhouse windows we recommend a minimum gauge of 3mm for adequate rigidity. This is because some customers have told us 2mm thick panels can be too bendy particularly on larger panel sizes.
Our extruded acrylic, from Perspex, has excellent UV stability and is durable even in the worst UK weather conditions.
We also supply:
- Acrylic Cut to Size Greenhouse Panels.
- Polycarbonate Cut to Size Greenhouse Panels.
- Polycarbonate Standard Sized Greenhouse Panels.
- Polycarbonate Special Shaped Greenhouse Panels.

How do I fit replacement greenhouse windows?
If your replacement panels are the same size and thickness as your original panels you should be able to fit them in exactly the same way. On wooden frames you can even drill and screw acrylic on.
How to Drill Acrylic
If you prefer, we can drill any holes for you, just let us know how many you'd like (we generally recommend a hole every 300mm) by completing the optional extras section when you place your order.

Is acrylic better than glass?
Acrylic is 17 times stronger than glass and about half the weight, making it easier to lift, carry, hang or transport. If dropped, acrylic is much less likely to break, and if it does, it breaks into large, blunt pieces rather than sharp shards, making it safer.
Acrylic is also clearer than glass and transmits more light, providing excellent optical performance.
Is acrylic suitable for outdoor use?
Yes — acrylic can be used outside.
What effect does UV have on polycarbonate?
Solar radiation can damage materials that are not protected. Our multiwall polycarbonate comes with a UV-protected surface, ensuring long-term optical quality even under UV exposure.
What is the difference between Perspex and acrylic?
Perspex is a brand of acrylic. Acrylic, also known as polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA), is a common thermoplastic invented in 1933. It became commercially available under several trademarks including Perspex®, Plexiglas®, Acrylite®, Altuglas®, and Lucite Plazcryl®.

Ordering
We sell two types of greenhouse replacement glazing, acrylic and polycarbonate, both equally adequate and both with their advantages. If you’re wanting to save money and live perhaps in an area that isn’t exposed to the elements, acrylic would be the way to go. If you live in an exposed area prone to adverse weather conditions including storms and the occasional tornado, polycarbonate would be the choice albeit more expensive but much tougher.
Bespoke Sizing
We sell both in standard sizes and if needed we can produce something bespoke that will fit and replace any existing panes. Remember too that acrylic and polycarbonate are child and pet friendly and reduces the chance of incident to near zero after a storm as any unlikely broken panes will not have any sharp edges and can be easily collected and disposed of.
Protective Films
All plastic sheet products will have a Clear, Blue or White protective film on both sides or a combination of all three. This is to protect during transit and needs removing before usage. Sometimes it can be difficult to peel off but use a thumbnail gently on any corner to lift and peel. Alternatively, gently wet any corner with a cloth to separate film and peel.
UV Protection
The high performance UV absorption layer in Polycarbonate means longer life and prevention of yellowing and loss of strength. Polycarbonate offers excellent protection against vandalism and accidental damage with an impact resistance up to 200 times greater than glass. Acrylic too has excellent UV stability and is durable even in the worst UK weather conditions.
Delivery Damages
You have 14 days from receiving your order to report any visible damages. Please email a photograph of the damage along with your order number and contact details as soon as possible to service@theplasticpeople.co.uk. We'll arrange a refund or replacement for you as soon as we receive this. Please keep your packaging and do not use the damaged goods, so they can be collected and returned to us if necessary.
