How electro chemical manufacturer cleans up contaminants

Challenge
Working with toxic and harsh chemicals, this electro chemical machine (ECM) manufacturer needed to clean up metal contaminants and waste products -  mainly particles and metal hydroxides -  from their precision cutting and machining processes.

Approach
The Plastic People were tasked to replace a metal filtration unit with a longer lasting solution which would fit into an existing process and which could consistently stand up to the harshest of chemicals and metals. The brief required a filtration silo which could filter metal contaminants and waste products -  mainly particles and metal hydroxides -  from this electro chemical manufacturer's precision cutting and machining processes.  The Plastic People began by identifying a suitable plastic which was more robust than the traditional metal solution as well as more durable, easy to move and, crucially, chemical resistant. A lightweight plastic that could withstand volumes of water, chemicals and metal contaminants pouring through it with high frequency and volume.

Results
Plastic Clarifier silos from The Plastic People have provided a more durable solution with less maintenance.  The plastic filtration parts also enable more operational up-time and a greater economic return than the traditional metal solutions that were in use.  Over 25 tonnes of water pass through our plastic filtration tank and associated parts in a constant cycle which processes dirty output from the cutting and machining processes back into clean water ready for use again.
